Steps to Tie a Four-in-Hand Knot:
Position the Tie:
- Start with the backside of the tie facing away from you, the wide end on the right side, and the narrow end on the left.
- The wide end should be about 12 inches lower than the narrow end, depending on your height and the length of the tie.
Cross the Wide End Over:
- Cross the wide end over the narrow end near your collar.
Bring the Wide End Under:
- Bring the wide end underneath the narrow end, moving toward the right.
Pass the Wide End Across the Front:
- Now, take the wide end across the front of the narrow end from right to left.
Pull the Wide End Up Through the Neck Loop:
- Bring the wide end up underneath the loop around your neck.
Pass the Wide End Through the Front Loop:
- Bring the wide end down through the loop you created in the front.
Tighten the Knot:
- Pull the wide end down while sliding the knot up to your collar.
- Adjust the knot until it's snug and centered.
Tips:
- Adjust the length: The tip of the tie should ideally reach the top of your belt buckle when finished.
- Practice: It may take a few tries to get the knot tight and neat, but with practice, you'll get faster.
